About the Art
The portrait of Machiavelli above is by Santi di Tito, a sixteenth-century Florentine artist who completed a number of portraits. The painting of Machiavelli is currently in the Palazzo Vecchio. Interestingly, because Santi di Tito died with five sons but no will, a detailed accounting of his property was available, including a comprehensive inventory of all of the contents of his home and workshop, which was at Via delle Ruote, 39.
